Oval Dusting Mops are used for removing excess gold leaf by gently brushing way the excess leaf once the gold has set.
It is important to use soft swirling motions, and not to rub. These oval mops can also be used for apply bronzing powers and mica over gold size by dipping the mop into the powder and then transferring it to the size.
Our Gilders Oval Dusting Mops are made of goat hair fibers, attached to a lacquered wood handle.
If the Mop becomes contaminated with size, it can be cleaned using a solvent appropriate for the adhesive that was used. It is best dried by using a pipe-cleaner wrapped around the handle to make a hook, and hanging the mop with the hair side down.
